Ile aux Aigrettes Nature Reserve

See directions

If you are already on the Mainland Island, why miss a chance to visit its surrounding islets? Take a boat trip to Ile aux Aigrettes is a small Island made of coral line limestone. This is one place where you can immerse yourself into excess of natural aura. You can re imagine the face of Mauritius Island way before the arrival of Man and its impact! This islet is home to various rare species that had been long disappeared from the Main Island such as Pink Pigeon, Mauritian Fody, Olive White Eyes, Aldabra Giant Tortoise and many others. When you visit this Island, make sure you are always accompanied by your tour ranger and carry enough water with you during your trail as there is no access to food or canteen facilities on the Islet. There are toilets for public use.

You can follow the boat departure times for the tours, leaving from the old Sands Jetty at Pointe Jerome:

Monday to Saturday – 9.30, 10:00, 10:30, 13:30, 14:00 and 14:30

Sunday – mornings only.
